Arturo Beltran Leyva Dead Body Photos and Videos

Marcos Arturo Beltrán Leyva, Mexican drug lord known as El Jefe De Jefes (The Boss of Bosses) was killed in a gunfight with the marines on December 16, 2009 in the city of Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. The marines had been onto him for a week following his narrow escape after a shootout at a Christmas party in Ahuatepec and eventually closed in on him in a poshy residential complex of Bellavista.

In spite of the latest video featuring Mexican Marines whereas the force appeared rather incompetent, the Marines are nevertheless regarded as incorruptible elite fighters. After their successful mission eliminating Arturo Beltrán Leyva, they may have however crossed the line of decency.

There are several very wrong things with the photo of Arturo Beltran Leyva’s dead body as seen above. The most obvious being that he’s covered with blood soaked bills. To mock the corpse post mortem by taking his personal possessions and arranging them on the body for pure mockery is something a force that regards itself as “elite” should not resort to.

Furthermore – Arturo Beltrán Leyva sustained mortal gunshot wounds during the shootout. Pulling his pants down and his shirt up was likewise clearly done for the sole purpose of disgracing the dead. Doing this to a surviving criminal in order to ensure he doesn’t have any weapons on him is one thing. Mocking a corpse that can’t defend itself is another. And while I do appreciate that drug cartels routinely resort to this type of scare tactics and humiliation, it should not be on the list of traits common among special forces.

If both the drug cartels and the military share the same appalling mentality, then who really is the bad guy? Plus – drug cartels are already ruthless to begin with. Provoking them by humiliating corpses of their leaders would only call for “yet more shocking” retaliation.
